Critter Sitters Newsletter
Fall 2006
Dear Clients and Friends:
I hope that everyone has had a great summer and is currently enjoying our beautiful fall weather. Now is when we reap the rewards of all of our hard work from the past year; it’s bounty time! For me personally, this year has been full of focus, planning, and progressive action, and this has resulted in a very positive kinetic energy in my life and business.
As this is the Year of the Fire Dog, many physical, mental, and spiritual goals have been set and achieved, so there is exciting news to share on many fronts:
The triathlon season rocked this year! Thanks in part to a group of new training buddies and friends, who have energized me in so many ways; I only missed one goal of placing overall in three triathlons in the women’s field. This year I placed “Overall” in two events, and I achieved major accomplishments in each and every event in which I participated. Of course, I have already started to work on my weaknesses for next year.
Here are my placements for 2006:

The Down and Dirty Triathlon, Rochester
2nd Overall
June 17
Green Lakes Triathlon, Fayetteville

I would like to thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm with my races and personal goals. Your encouragement provides me an extra boost!
Pursuing my dreams. In addition to training for and competing in a number of triathlons, I have been actively pursuing my dreams of owning a pet boarding facility. Admittedly, it took me a while to mentally prepare to leave my home in Syracuse, and gather the courage to step up to the plate, and now I am truly ready to put five years of plans into action. I know it is an exciting time for the growth and development of my business, so I’m going for it 100%!
And the timing couldn’t be any better, as have found the perfect location just east of the Syracuse City limits in LaFayette, New York. As a matter of fact, I am going to see the Town of Lafayette Zoning Board on October 17th to introduce Critter Sitters, promote my service, and present the overall benefits of this Industry. I’m sure I will have many well-wishers, Thank you! You will be informed as soon I know the outcome of the meeting.
There are so many things about this new property that has my brain popping like Jiffy Pop; I am on fire with ideas! As I am trying to mentally, physically, and spiritually make my dreams become reality, I realize that in the end its all about the furry friends we all care so much about. That said, I want you all to know that I have designed my boarding facility to promote lifetime fitness, love, caring, respect, and healthy habits for all of our animal companions.
Preparing for my venture. I recently attended a four day boarding, kenneling, and grooming Expo in Hershey, Pennsylvania with over 3,000 dog people in one place. It was an amazing privilege and very intense conference in regards to the entire dog Industry. I participated in seven seminars on different aspects of the mechanical, plumbing, electrical, noise control, and the construction process in the boarding Industry. In addition to the technical advice, I was exposed to many new efforts and ideas to best care for our dog pals; I can’t wait to put everything into practice!
Giving back to the community. I am proud to say that I was asked to serve as the Event Chairperson for the ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s Disease) walk/run, and of course, Critter Sitters was a bronze sponsor for the event. I also put significant efforts into raising money for the Wanderer’s Rest Walk.
In addition, in celebration of 5 years in business in the Central New York area, I want to give back to community so I am contributing to another local charity. I have chosen the Community Action Project, which is a non-profit organization that exists to reduce the suffering of animals, and to assist the community with making the lives of animals as safe as possible. Specifically, the Community Action Project has a program that provides sturdy, custom-made doghouses and straw bedding for families with outdoor dogs and little money to provide for them. My goal is to raise enough money to let each and every dog have a five star crib of his/her own! Learn more at communityanimalproject.org.
Pricing update. Critter Sitters will be adding a gas surcharge to everyone’s bill based on where you live and how many times I service your animals. The cost will range from $2 to $20 and will fluctuate with the current gas prices. Thank you for your understanding.
Future news. In an effort to be kind to the environment, and to provide you with easy access to information regarding my services, I would like to save paper and increase my communications through email and use of my website. To stay in the loop, please send your email address to sperotti@crittersittercny.com.
Caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. As you know, I train at the Fayetteville YMCA and I do a ton of swimming in their beautiful aquatic facility. I love the four pillars they have hanging from the wall, which are all in bright colors that promote caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. These characteristics are embodied in all of the animals I care for and each day I am reminded of what it takes to be a successful businesswoman and friend.
Be well, and thank you!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Perotti
